Dakar 2023 – Injured, Orlando Terranova could give up

Orlando Terranova and Alex Haro (Bahrain Raid Xtreme) may not see the Arabian Gulf on January 15. The Argentinian driver preferred to turn back from the first kilometers of the 4th stage of the Dakar 2023, this Wednesday January 4 around Ha’il, while he was evolving in 16th place in the rally-raid.

Sebastian’s teammate Loebwho had played the water carriers by giving him one of his spare wheels during the second stage, was injured in an impact against camel grass at the end of stage 3.

“A very bad day today. Yesterday (mardi), 6 km from the end, we hit the camel grass at high speed, very hard. The car is very solid and nothing has happened to it. Because of yesterday’s shock, my back gave out. 12 km after the start of the day’s special, I started to feel a lot of pain in my waist. Yesterday’s impact caused inflammation in the injury I have in my lower back. After the good stages we did with Alex, I thought it would be a good Dakar. So much for that. That’s life and that’s sport. »

Orlando Terranova finished the 2022 Dakar in 4th place, with a special victory. The continuation of his Dakar 2023 remains uncertain. A scanner was carried out in the bivouac’s mobile clinic and the Argentinian will consult with his physiotherapist about the rest of the rally-raid.
