Instead, the new signings are more like firecrackers. On paper, the Cowboys have been title contenders for years, but in recent seasons they have never made it past the divisional round. And things are certainly not getting any easier for the Cowboys, especially with the question of the contract situation surrounding quarterback Dak Prescott hanging like the sword of Damocles over AT&T Stadium.
But Prescott will do everything he can to maintain his claim to livelihood and can rely on offensive weapons like CeeDee Lamb and returning player Ezekiel Elliot. On defense, the retirement of Leighton Vander Esch in particular must be compensated for, and only time will tell whether this can be achieved with the new signings from the draft.
