Dan Bigham new hour record holder, Victor Campenaerts dethroned

Victor Campenaerts is no longer the hour record holder. The rider of the Lotto-Soudal team had to bow this Friday with the performance of Briton Dan Bigham who broke his record.

Since April 2019, the native of Wilrijk has held the honorary title of the hour record. This Saturday, And Bigham, performance engineer at INEOS-Grenadiers was faster, covering 55.548 kilometers once morest 55.089 for our compatriot. Bigham managed this performance on the Swiss track of Grenchen while he is not a professional.

As a reminder, the principle of the hour record is to cover the longest possible distance on a track for one hour.

At the beginning of the 2010s, following the introduction of a new regulation, this record began to interest once more. Jens Voigt, Matthias Brandle, Rohan Dennis, Alex Dowsett, Bradley Wiggins and so Victor Campenaerts had succeeded as author of the reference mark before Dan Bigham changed that.

Recently, Bigham notably won a silver medal in the team pursuit at the Commonwealth Games.
