Daria Klishina: “My son has an American passport, we do not plan to get a Russian one. For the future, American and European passports will be more useful to him.” – Athletics

Silver medalist of the 2017 World Championships in long jump Daria Klishina stated that her son would not receive Russian citizenship.

Klishina has been living and training in the USA since 2013. She gave birth to her first child in June of this year.

– Do you connect your future with life in the States?

“I connect him with the family. Where she is, there I am. If you need to move, no problem.

– Does it depend on the work of the husband?

– In particular, yes.

– If you need to return to Tver, no problem?

– Hardly, because his work has nothing to do with Russia. Two options are globally considered: America and Europe.

– A couple of years ago you said that you were not planning to get an American passport. Has anything changed in that sense?

– I have a green card and so far there are no plans to get a passport.

What is your son’s nationality?

– He has an American passport, I gave birth here, so he goes by default.

– Do you plan to receive Russian?

– Not.

– You have no idea how happy some shows will be with this statement of yours.

He already has two passports. You can’t have three citizenships. I believe that for the future, American and European passports will be more useful to him.

As for Russia, we will definitely go there. And since I am a Russian mother, the child will quickly and easily receive a visa. With which he can safely travel around our country for three years. So we acted rationally,” Klishina said.

“In America, no one controls my head. I like it”. Big interview with Daria Klishina
