SERIES. Hell is upon us
“Kidnapping – season 2” at 8:55 p.m. on Arte. Knowing the truth is one thing, living with it is another. During the excellent season 1 – broadcast in October 2020 and visible on Arte.fr – Danish investigator Rolf Larsen (Anders W. Berthelsen) discovered what had happened to his little girl whom he had been carrying for five years , the guilt of the cruel disappearance. A weight that he has not known what to do with since, unable to share it with Maria, his ex-wife who is about to give birth. Especially since she gives birth to a seriously ill child…
The police officer soon finds himself investigating the macabre discovery, in a forest, of a truck containing the inanimate bodies of 19 Vietnamese illegal immigrants. A case with European, even global, ramifications, which allows him to find his French colleague Claire Bodin (Charlotte Rampling).
In Romania, young Nicoletta and her boyfriend, Cosma, board a minibus heading to Denmark with the promise of a good job, but there is no further sign of life. To find his sister, Mario takes the same route. Without knowing what awaits him…
Orchestrated by one of the creators of “The Killing”, this second season proves to be just as gripping and dark as the first. Shorter by two episodes (6 instead of 8), this chilling thriller takes us across Europe, into contact with networks responsible for trafficking in human beings and organs, and disguised slavery which exist on our doorstep. . Dark and gripping, moving and intimate, sometimes suffocating – it is not recommended for a young and sensitive audience – this sequel, continually under tension, proves singularly catchy until the end. And very skillfully done.

“The Devil Wears Prada” at 9:10 p.m., on TF 1. You like Meryl Streep, so sweet in “Mamma Mia!” » ? You’ll love to hate it. Because she’s as brilliant as she is insufferable in this comedy set in the fashion world of New York.
Released in 2006, the film, which attracted 2 million spectators in France, tells the story of a young journalism graduate, Andrea (played by Anne Hathaway), who lands a position as an editorial assistant for a fashion journal run by Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep. Very quickly, the star journalist, inspired by Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of the American edition of “Vogue”, will make her protégé’s life impossible.
In this well-rounded comedy, the exchanges between Meryl Streep – Golden Globe winner for best actress for this role – and actresses Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt are irresistible. A grating irony that hasn’t aged a bit.

TELEFILM. Family secret
“Amours à mort” at 9:10 p.m., on France 3. Gilles Thouvenin, former director of the Uckange steel factory, in Moselle, is murdered and his body found on the site in the former blast furnace park. Clément Leroy, the captain of the gendarmerie, is in charge of the investigation. He is also the childhood sweetheart of the victim’s daughter, Laure, a specialist in industrial history.
Little by little, this non-conformist woman will help Clément. And it is hand in hand that they will discover terrible family secrets…
We’re playing the game of this thriller filmed in Moselle and offered for rebroadcast. We even try to play investigators. The scenario is well put together, even if sometimes a little overplayed, and certain scenes are without great surprises. The protagonists display a wonderful bond. Fans of “Nicolas Le Floch” will appreciate finding here Jérôme Robart in the skin of the gendarme, and Sam Karmann is particularly moving in the role of the latter’s father.

SCIENCE FICTION. Schwarzy against the end of the world
Arnold Schwarzenegger, aka Terminator, is still responsible for protecting the future leader of the human resistance against machines… Studios Canal+
“Terminator 2” at 9:20 p.m., on C8. With his legendary “I’ll Be Back” pronounced in 1984 in “Terminator”, Arnold Schwarzenegger entered cinema legend. Seven years after the success of the first part, James Cameron resurrected the famous robot T-800, Terminator, responsible for protecting John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines.
When it was released in 1991, the film was praised in particular for its special effects, considered revolutionary. Technical feats which do not overshadow the scenario, and have ultimately not aged so badly.

DOCUMENTARY. At the temple of the sun
A rich, dense and informative documentary on the mysterious Mayan civilization of which there is still much to discover. Windfall Films Ltd/France 5
“In search of the royal Mayan tombs” at 9:05 p.m., on France 5. Its history, despite years of research, still remains mysterious. The Mayan civilization nevertheless reigned over a good part of South America from the 3rd century BC until the 17th century, before dissolving almost completely without all the reasons being yet known. This rebroadcast documentary attempts to shed light on this enigma.
In Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras, cameras follow several teams of researchers in search of remains, in the imposing ruins of cities, in the heart of the jungle or at the bottom of a lake. In the temples of Copan, Japanese archaeologists are using, for example, the innovative technique of muography, which allows giant x-rays, to find the tombs of Mayan kings, of which only a few are known.
Rich, dense, informative, the program allows you to take stock of the work in progress, and also shows that there is still much to discover about this fascinating civilization.
