Data from the State Statistical Office: pensioners in Berlin and Brandenburg receive more money

The average pension increased slightly in Berlin and Brandenburg last year. Pensioners in Berlin received an average of 1,371 euros per month in 2021 – 20 euros more than in the previous year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday. In Brandenburg, the average pension rose by 29 euros to 1,430 euros.

According to the statistics, the pension income for women and men in Berlin is almost identical: female pensioners received 1,372 euros, two euros more than pensioners. In Brandenburg, female pensioners received more money, at EUR 1,450, than pensioners, who received EUR 1,403.

According to the statisticians, pensioners in Berlin received benefits of more than 13.6 billion euros, 171 million euros more than in the previous year. The number of recipients fell by around 1,700 to around 828,800 compared to the previous year. In Brandenburg, the volume of pensions increased from 13.5 billion to 13.9 billion euros. The number of pensioners rose by around 7,000 to around 810,300.
