Study presentation and discussion with Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler and city councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky
Vienna (OTS) – Cities and municipalities are particularly important in combating the climate crisis. 70% of climate protection actions and 90% of climate change adaptation actions occur at local and regional levels.
A current study by the Austrian Society for Policy Advice and Policy Development (ÖGPP) now makes it clear how diverse the possibilities for influence are – from local public transport to water supply to sustainable spatial planning.

Sufficient financing, training and further education measures and new hires are important in order to combat the personnel shortage. And we need sufficient investments and an expansion of public services – in the areas of public transport, thermal renovation and renewable energy.”
