Austria’s Davis Cup team celebrated the expected home win over Pakistan on Saturday in Tulln. Alexander Erler and local hero Lucas Miedler got the third point in the play-off following the 2-0 lead from the day before in doubles once morest Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi/Aqeel Khan. Erler/Miedler, who also won the Challenger tournament in Tulln last week, won 6:3, 6:3.
This means that Austria is back in the qualifying round, which this time will be played in early February 2023, and are fighting for a place in the lucrative Davis Cup final tournament. The draw for this takes place on Tuesday followingnoon in London, ÖTV hopes for a home game. The day before, Jurij Rodionov and Davis Cup debutant Filip Misolic had scored the first two points for the hosts without losing a set.
