Day 5 at the Pacific Games: Final Stretch and Hopes for Revenge

The triathletes are hoping for a revenge against the Tahitians during the aquathlon this Friday at the Pacific Games. Day also marked by the small final of the footballers, or the marathon va’a races in V6. Here is the program for the penultimate day of competition in the Solomon Islands.

We are entering the final stretch, for the athletes of the Pacific. Before a very light Saturday, because of the closing ceremony, many disciplines will experience their epilogue this Friday.

Va’a: end of the Games for the rowers

After five days of competitions, in canoe and kayak, it is time to put away the oars in Honiara. But not before a final tour at sea. It will be in V6, with a 24 km marathon.

Sailing: at cruising speed

The sailors continue their regattas this Friday, on the water of the DC park, in Honiara. Time to score points, before the medal races tomorrow.

Athletics: latest medals at the national stadium

While the last day of athletics will take place on Saturday, with the half-marathons, the final stadium events will be held this Friday. A little earlier than usual, since the athletes must meet at the end of the morning, and not in the afternoon. Beware of heatstroke.

Triathlon/aquathlon: Hugo Tormento highly anticipated

After a first day of triathlon dominated by the Tahitians, it’s time for the aquathlon today, then the relay triathlon. In the first event, all eyes will be on Hugo Tormento, Otilio swim’run world champion. Among the women, Bénédicte Meunier will wear the colors of the Cagous. The two should be accompanied by Manon Brasseur and Thomas Prono. As for Mathieu Szalamacha and Céline Hirzel, they should be associated for the relay triathlon.

Football: first medals this Friday

As with many disciplines, football tournaments are coming to an end in Honiara. Three finals are scheduled for today. Including the midday one which concerns the Cagoues in search of a medal. The men will play tomorrow morning against the Solomons for the gold medal.

Boxing: one last round before the farewells

The boxers also finish their competitions this Friday, with the weight category finals.
