Deadly blast in Afghan mosque; 21 dead – Kabul Blast

Kabul – The death toll from a bomb blast at a mosque during evening prayers in the Afghan capital Kabul has reached 21. 33 people including children were injured. Among the dead was prominent cleric Mullah Amir Muhammad Kabuli. A suicide bombing took place in the Siddiqiya mosque of the Sunni sect.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast. The group, which works closely with the Islamic State (IS), has recently been targeting the Taliban government. Another prominent cleric was killed in Kabul last week.

Meanwhile, the Taliban government stated that the rebel commander Mehdi Mujahid was captured and killed while trying to enter Iran. Mehdi, commander of the northern province of Zarepul, was the only leader from the Shiite sect. He had been at odds with the Taliban for almost a year.
