Marjayoun, South Lebanon, April 16, 2024 (Xinhua) Two members of the Lebanese Hezbollah and a member of the Amal Movement were killed and three civilians were wounded this afternoon (Tuesday) as a result of a series of new air strikes carried out by Israeli drones and warplanes on several towns in the western and central sectors of southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military and medical sources.
Lebanese military sources told Xinhua News Agency that Israeli drones fired three air-to-surface missiles towards the center of the town of Shihabiya in the western sector of the border area in southern Lebanon, which led to the burning of three cars, the killing of three people, the wounding of three civilians, and damage to several commercial shops and more than 22 houses.”
She added that the dead were “two members of the Lebanese Hezbollah and a member of the Amal Movement (an armed movement affiliated with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament.”
Israeli warplanes launched 6 air strikes on multiple areas of southern Lebanon, coinciding with violent artillery shelling that targeted many towns, according to Lebanese military sources.
In the same context, Lebanese Hezbollah announced today that its military wing launched a series of attacks on Israeli sites.
A Lebanese military source confirmed to Xinhua that, “This afternoon, more than 100 surface-to-surface missiles were monitored from Lebanon to northern Israel, and some of them were attacked by Israeli Iron Dome missiles.”
