Niamey: 17 soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack in Niger where a military coup took place. This is the biggest terrorist attack in the country since the military leadership seized power last month.

20 soldiers were injured. Six of them are in critical condition. Around 100 terrorists were killed in the army’s counterattack.

The group of terrorists came on two-wheelers. Since 2015, attacks by terrorist organizations have been frequent in the countries of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. Terrorist groups in the region are also linked to the Islamic State and Al Qaeda. On July 26, Niger’s elected president, Mohamed Basoum, was ousted by the military and seized power.
