‘Dear Priyanka! Sharmeen Obaid is first a Pakistani, then a South Asian.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has been congratulated by many people from all over the world, including Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, for directing the Star Wars series.

However, Priyanka is facing objections for calling Sherman a South Asian instead of a Pakistani in her Instagram story.

He congratulated Sherman on his Instagram story, writing: ‘The first non-white and first woman to direct a Star Wars film. They are also South Asian. This is a historic moment. Sherman My friend, I am proud of you.’

Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui is one of those who objected to Priyanka’s story.

Adnan Siddiqui tagged Priyanka on his Twitter account and wrote: ‘Priyanka with great respect to add to your information that Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is firstly a Pakistani.

‘Just like you pretend to be Indian every chance you get before claiming to be South Asian.’

Many users reacted to Adnan’s tweet. User Faisal Kapadia wrote: ‘Try as you might, you cannot erase Pakistan from the international narrative.

“Sherman is a Pakistani and that’s what he should be called. You can’t erase nationality under the pretext of fake unity. How many Indian stars are there who will call themselves South Asian after winning an award?” No, they are Indians.’

Afshan Tayyab wrote: ‘Priyanka has never introduced an Indian as a South Asian but when it comes to Pakistanis, they become South Asian.’

Naila also made the same complaint to Priyanka and said that Priyanka needs a big heart to show Chennai as a Pakistani.

Mahbinu wrote: ‘Give Priyanka Sharma the respect she deserves by writing the name of her country Pakistan! Or do you want to hide the truth by cheating? We have not forgotten your war-craze.’

A user Ashant wrote in support of Priyanka saying, ‘Don’t panic, we all know that she is Pakistani. Priyanka Chopra called Sherman a ‘South Asian’ just because she was celebrating ‘South Asian Excellence’ a month before the Oscars.

American film studio officials announced Friday that three new Star Wars films are in development, one of which will be directed by Pakistani Oscar winner Shermin Obaid Chinoy.

Sherman will be the first woman to direct a film in the Star Wars series.
