At the beginning of the month, following two sessions on an Alpha build, Gamespot a interviewed CEO James Thomson and executive producer Jord Fox of the World Makers studio on the sequel to their franchise, Deceit. The latter is a multiplayer game comprising nine players trapped in an unknown environment, two of whom will have to thwart the escape attempt. Using uncovered clues, players will have to unmask and eliminate infected among the group in order to survive to win the game.

Unlike its predecessor, Deceit 2 will be a game low-cost premium redesigned from the ground up and focused on storytelling through locations and characters in a sandbox world. The development of the story will unfold through a multitude of liminal places, that is to say, where reality collapses and where one passes into another dimension. The group of Truth Seekers Anonymous as well as three new members will receive special attention on their own stories.

Also, thanks to transmedia activities around the Deceit lore, the World Markers studio plans to create YouTube mini-series and had proposed, for example, a series of clues on a forum ARG (Alternate Reality Game) allowing players to find an unlockable emblem in the next DLC.

Still in alpha, the game is more ambitious and continues to be refined by a larger team than its predecessor with investment support from Markers Fund. It is also planned the cross-play but no cross-progression, because “cross-play brings the greatest benefit, for time and investment” according to the studio. At launch, only one map will be available and subsequently, a second map will be accompanied in parallel with the Werewolf DLC, for which neither the price nor the release date are communicated.

Deceit 2 still doesn’t have an announced release date for this year and if you’re interested in it, you can add it to your wishlist from its page. Steam.
