Decrease in Covid Cases in Center-Val de Loire and Loiret: Recent Trends and Vaccination Information

Covid is not progressing in Center-Val de Loire and Loiret. Between October 9 and 15, 2023, the ARS collected falling numberscompared to the previous week (October 2 to 8, 2023).

Over that week, it was 38,8 (per 100,000 inhabitants) in the region, against 35.4, from October 9 to 15. In the Loiret, it was 38,2 compared to 32.5 between October 9 and 15.

“Between October 9 and 15, for the region, the incidence rate was higher in the oldest age groups […]the national level follows the same trends,” indicates the ARS Centre-Val de Loire.

A resurgence observed since July 2023

In the region, “a gradual increase” in the incidence rate has so far been felt since the beginning of July 2023. “But a decline has been observed for 2 weeks at the level of the region and Loiret,” underlines the ARS Centre-Val de Loire.

At the same time, the test positivity rate decreased in the region (25.9% from October 2 to 8, 2023, compared to 24,9 % from October 9 to 15). Also, fewer people are tested: 150.2% (per 100,000 inhabitants) from October 2 to 8, compared to 142,5 from October 9 to 15.

As to emergency visits and to SOS Doctors consultations for Covid-19, “the share of activity is down from October 9 to 15, in Center-Val de Loire (2.8% compared to 5.0% from October 2 to 8 for SOS Médecins; 0.9% compared to 1.1% from October 2 to 8 for hospital emergencies).

Where to get vaccinated against Covid-19?

A vaccination campaign is being organized in the fall of 2023. It is also possible to be vaccinated at the same time against Covid and seasonal flu since October 17, 2023.
It is strongly recommended that people at risk of developing severe forms of Covid-19 receive this vaccination in order to maintain their immunity at a high level. Vaccination will cost you nothing because it is 100% covered for everyone.

– Who is affected by this campaign?

It is strongly recommended that people most at risk of developing a severe form receive a dose of vaccine in the fall, following the model of the seasonal flu vaccination campaign. Are concerned: people aged 65 and over, other people (infants from 6 months, children, adolescents and adults), those with comorbidities having a higher risk of serious form of the disease (complicated arterial hypertension, cardiac, vascular, hepatic, renal, pulmonary problems, diabetes, obesity, cancers, transplant recipients, people with Down syndrome or psychiatric disorders or dementia), immunocompromised people, pregnant women, residents in accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people (EHPAD) and long-term care unit (USLD), people at very high risk of serious illness according to each individual medical situation and as part of a decision shared with the healthcare teams, people living in their entourage or in contact regularly with immunocompromised and vulnerable people, including professionals in the health and medico-social sectors

– Vaccination is also recommended for:

· Students and professionals in the health sectors (working in establishments or self-employed)

· Students and professionals of the rescue and fire services (in particular professional and volunteer firefighters)

· Professionals in regular contact with immunocompromised or vulnerable people

The time limit to be respected after the last injection or the last infection with COVID-19 is a minimum of 6 months.

Vaccination locations: For residents in USLD and EHPAD, vaccination is organized by the establishment. For people targeted by the recommendations but also people living in independent residences or serviced residences, vaccination can be carried out in town: in a pharmacy, with a doctor, with a nurse, with a dental surgeon, with a midwife.
