Deer stumbles hard –

Deportiva Venados, with a man down for most of the match, suffered a hard setback in its aspirations in the final part of the Premier League, losing 2-0 yesterday in its visit to Racing Porto Palmeiras, the super leader of Serie A.

Despite losing last night on the synthetic field of the “Hugo Sánchez” Sports Unit in Boca del Río, Veracruz, the horned team remains in second place in Group 2, with 55 units, but behind them come three who are a serious threat.

The local team showed the strength of a leader and came out with everything. From the 3rd minute they took the lead, with a goal from Elim Díaz. Things got worse for the visitors, as they were then left with 10 when Eduardo García Barrón was sent off in the same first half.

Porto maintained its siege in that part, but in the second it was the Venados who controlled the actions, largely in the midfield of the porteños, who felt pressured. But the peninsulars could not do any damage despite their attack being more noticeable. In one period, the visitors had nine on the field when Christian García was injured in a dangerous action, and the home team took advantage of a mistake to, in the 88th minute, seal their victory with a great shot from Gamaliel Sánchez.

Deportiva, with its 55 units, is ahead of Tampico Madero, which has 53; Irapuato, with 52, and Escorpiones FC, with 51, all with 28 games played in the season.— Gaspar Silveira
