Experienced Assistant Del Alexander Named Interim Head Coach
UNLV has named wide receivers coach Del Alexander as the program’s interim head coach. The announcement came Sunday afternoon.
“Del will lead our team starting immediately as we prepare to play in the Art of Sport LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk on December 18,” Director of Athletics- said. “Del has a long history with successful football programs on a national level and we have full confidence that he is the right person to lead the Rebels into what promises to be an exciting big-time bowl game.”
Alexander is no stranger to UNLV, having served as a member of two previous UNLV coaching staffs.

Alexander’s return to UNLV in 2023 was marked by immediate success. His position group shattered school records.
Ricky White III, coached by Alexander, set a single-season school record with 1,483 yards, a mark that ranked third in college football. White’s accomplishment became inevitable, leading the Rebels to a top-ranked offense nationally during the 2023 season.
Prior to UNLV reinstatement, and sucessfully served the wide receivers coach ribbons honors since 1981.

**Del:** Thanks for having me. It’s an honor, truly. This program means a lot to me, and I’m excited to lead these guys into the bowl game.
**Host:** You’ve had a big impact on the offense this year, particularly with Ricky White III setting a new school record. What’s your approach to coaching, and what do you see as your biggest strengths as you take on this new role?
