Del Taco Closures: Restaurants Shut Down Across Multiple States

by

Del Taco has closed all of its restaurants in Georgia, including locations in Columbus and Phenix City, effective Tuesday, according to reports from local news outlets.

The closures encompass all remaining Del Taco locations across the state, with the company likewise removing Georgia listings from its online store locator. Notices of permanent closure were posted at the Columbus and Phenix City restaurants, located on Hamilton Road and Highway 280 respectively, according to WTVM.

This marks the second time Del Taco has exited the Chattahoochee Valley. The chain previously operated in both cities, with the Columbus restaurant opening in August 2014 and the Phenix City location following in November 2019. Prior to that, Del Taco had a presence in the region decades ago.

The closures arrive amid financial difficulties for the Mexican quick-food chain. Del Taco filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October 2024, which transitioned to a Chapter 7 liquidation in July 2025, according to PacerMonitor as reported by Yahoo. The company’s financial struggles have included declining sales and franchisee bankruptcies, impacting a previous location in Opelika, Alabama, which opened in February 2024 and closed last summer.

In March 2022, Jack in the Box acquired Del Taco for approximately $585 million. However, in December 2025, Jack in the Box sold the brand to Yadav Enterprises for roughly $119 million. Anil Yadav, CEO of Yadav Enterprises, expressed optimism about the future of the Del Taco brand in a news release following the acquisition.

Del Taco has not responded to requests for comment regarding the closures, according to WTVM. The abrupt nature of the closures has left customers and local news organizations seeking answers.

The nearest open Del Taco locations are now in Florida, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Huntsville, Alabama, according to reports.
