Delhaize will lower the price of hundreds of products this week. The chain wants to change the perception that Delhaize is a more expensive supermarket and win back customers lost over the past tumultuous months, Delhaize spokesman Roel Dekelver said on Monday.
Delhaize will therefore lower the price of hundreds of products of its own brand at the end of the week. In total, 1,000 of the 5,000 private label products will be reduced.
“The discount on Les Petits Lions is 10 to 30%,” says Dekelver. “Previously, we had already done this with five hundred other house brands. The sale of these products has since increased by 20%.”
The action takes place just before September because “with the start of the school year and the many sporting activities, this generates a lot of costs”.
Furthermore, Delhaize wants to reverse the perception of a more expensive supermarket, fight once morest inflation and win back customers lost in recent months.
