Updates on Tropical Storm Franklin and Current Watches and Warnings

MIAMI, Florida – Tropical Storm Franklin formed in the Atlantic on Sunday and is expected to dump heavy rain over portions of Hispaniola and Puerto Rico.

According to the 8:00 am bulletin this Monday from the National Hurricane Center, the storm was 235 miles south of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic and was carrying maximum sustained winds of 50 mph at a speed of 12 mph.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:

Dominican Republic the entire south coast from the border with Haiti to the east
to Isla Saona Haiti the entire south coast from Anse d’Hainault eastward to the
border with Dominican Republic

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for:

Dominican Republic the entire north and east coast from Haiti
bordered to the east and south by Saona Island Turks and Caicos Islands
