On February 17th of this year, a 91-year-old woman was tried in the Regional Court for Criminal Matters in Vienna. The prosecution accused her of setting fire in her apartment in Vienna-Simmering when she was overwhelmed. Her 93-year-old husband, who was in need of care, died. The accused was sentenced to twelve years in prison. The judgment is final. The woman is currently the oldest prisoner in the Austrian penal system. The oldest male prisoner is 88 years old.
