Yesterday, Mexico experienced an unprecedented democratic process, which today places us at the forefront of the evolutionary process of democracy in the world. What happened yesterday is not just an act of citizen participation, it is not just an act of civility; Plain and simple, it is an act of freedom. That is what democracy stands for.
Many will say that behind this process there are interests of a political nature, even aberrant and petty; however, the political struggle unfortunately always leads to that, to revile the adversary and try to undermine his credibility in the most effective way. Others of us will have to cheer this evolutionary process, and we attribute it to the ideological struggle that the left promotes.
It will be possible to be said of everything and what is around the democratic process that we lived yesterday; but the reality that surrounds everyone is that, undeniably, he won the freedom that is spliced with democracy. The citizens won. Mexico won.
The evident and notorious advance of our country, in this now recognized evolutionary process, generates confrontation before the diversity in the political-electoral proposals; however, freedom must be defended, praised and, as often as necessary, proposed in each and every one of its expressions. The struggle for power represents the possibility of proposing an ideological belief and it must be recognized that this ideological proposal in favor of freedom came from the federal Executive which, today, by will, placed itself before the scrutiny of the people.
The number of participants will seem high to many and low to others; possibly it does not have any legal effect, given the percentage that is required to make it binding; and this is used to disqualify those who think differently from the left and, even, mockery and derision will be the voice given the lack of ideological proposals in favor of freedom, it will be as we are used to it; however, and despite all this, democracy was partying.
As never before, the extremely direct confrontation between the body responsible for guaranteeing democracy in our country, which is assigned to the National Electoral Institute (INE), and political forces and some political actors that emanate from or are close to the Mexican left, he observed with greater bitterness, even in that a precedent was set; Well, this is also evolutionary, and no one should be surprised that this type of confrontation is here to stay.
Or does anyone really believe that the electoral consultants do not have his “little heart”, that they do not have sympathy for one or another actor, or that in the end they do not have ideological motivations? Well, it would be very worrying if it weren’t, but even more worrying if someone believed it.
For the first time in the modern and democratic history of Mexico, the current government is headed by a president who emanates from the ideological struggle of the left, the one that has always faced adversity, the one that always acts in rebellion and its libertarian threshold. he is taller than anyone. Freedom forces debate. The confrontation of ideas, the passion that many apply to the exercise of the right that freedom gives us should not intimidate or surprise anyone, this behavior is natural, plain and simple, it is human.
