The Drasop bridge, which spans the Brussels ring road at Halle, will be demolished during the night from Saturday to Sunday.

The Drasop bridge, which spans the Brussels ring road at Hal, will be demolished during the night from Saturday to Sunday, which will result in the closure of the section between the Huizingen (n°20) and Hal (n°21) exits at from 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening until 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

The Flemish traffic agency (Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer) recommends that motorists avoid the western part of the ring or pass through Tervuren and Waterloo.

A truck loaded with paper hit the underside of the bridge in August 2019. The vehicle caught fire and damaged one of the bridge’s steel beams. Since the accident, the structure has been closed to traffic.

The Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer is working on replacing the bridge, which will have two lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, each 2.5 meters wide. A 3 meter wide lane for cars is planned in the middle of the road, motorists will have to cross the bridge in turns.

The bridge should normally be put into service in the summer of 2024.
