Jeddah: As part of the elimination of slums and urban development, the committee formed in this regard announced that 3.74 crore riyals have been distributed to 18,000 families as part of the rehabilitation of those who lived in the buildings that were demolished and moved in different parts of Jeddah.

The committee has released the amount disbursed so far since the demolition process started in October last year. The committee noted that more than 17,900 families were benefited by the payment of rent and 269 persons, including men and women registered with social security, were employed through the empowerment programmes.

The committee added that in addition to temporary shelter, food items, water supply, food and medicine, free services such as childcare and changing of goods are also being provided to the citizens of the areas where buildings are being demolished.
