The body found Friday in the Dender is indeed that of VG, the suspect in the double homicide committed in Denderhoutem, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Sunday.
The two victims, a 54-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son, were found on Saturday November 11 in a home in Denderhoutem. The suspect, aged 51, husband of the woman and father-in-law of her son, was suspected of having killed them and of having committed suicide, his car having been found near the Dendre, in Aalst. Witnesses also saw a person jump into the water.
Several search operations have been carried out, including one last week, near the Werfplein and the Tereos factory in Aalst, interrupted by the force of the current fed by intense precipitation.
