Russian figure skater Denis Khodykin answered the question about the possible breakup of the duet with Darey Pavlyuchenko.
The athletes are bronze medalists of the European Championship 2020 in pair skating.
– For the past few seasons, rumors have persisted that you stop working together every off-season, but you still go into the new season. How true are these rumors, and how do you usually react to them?
Khodykin: There must have been some truth in the rumors. As far as I remember, from the first year we paired up, we had a lot of ill-wishers: they stole suits, sharpened Dasha’s skates on the battery.
And every off-season, there are rumors that we’re breaking up, and we meet in the gym and say, “Oh, well, we don’t skate?” It happened that we quarreled in the off-season, and they tried to inflate it, but everyone has quarrels.
– How is your training process going now?
Pavlyuchenko: Fun, relaxed, very relaxed.
Khodykin: An incomprehensible season, we went into it more calmly. It’s not clear what you’re up to. We are very grateful that there are stages of the Russian Grand Prix. For a very long time it was not clear what would happen. This allowed us to more calmly enter the season and prepare.
