Dennis ward,Beloved Community Member and Devoted Family Man,Passes After Long Battle with Parkinson’s
Elk Park,NC – July 16,2025 – Dennis Ward,a cherished figure in the Beech Mountain community,passed away after a valiant,long-term struggle with Parkinson’s disease. His life, marked by dedication too his faith, skilled craftsmanship, and unwavering love for his family, serves as an inspiration.
Born to Mike and Eula Ward, Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Grady and J.D. Ward, as well as his daughter, Deanna Leigh Hicks. His legacy of love and commitment will undoubtedly be carried forward by his surviving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Lucy Kay “Kate” Ward, and their children: Brent Ward and his wife Lisa; Jodie ward and her fiancé, Nathan Cook; and Brandon Ward and his wife Emile’. Dennis’s grandchildren – kyle Hicks, Sonya Hartley and her husband Matthew, Emma, Tyler, Tate, and Brodie Ward, Katie and Saleigh Daniels, and Geter Cook – along with his great-grandchild, Evan Hartley, will forever hold his memory dear. He is also remembered by his brothers, Elbert and Ray Ward, his sisters, Velma Gragg, Reba Church, and Shirley Miller, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ward was a man of many talents, renowned for his skill as a carpenter and his passion for farming. Beyond his professional life, he was a pillar of the Beech Mountain Regular Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and church clerk. His commitment to his faith was a guiding principle throughout his life.The scripture Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock,” beautifully encapsulates the enduring strength and steadfastness that characterized Dennis Ward’s life. Funeral services will be held at Beech Mountain Regular Baptist Church on July 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 1029 Flat Springs Rd,Elk Park,NC 28622.
