Just because they’re NBA champions doesn’t mean the Nuggets are going to rest on their laurels. The proof, one day before the Draft, they are the ones who open the transfer ball. The Denver franchise has indeed negotiated with Indiana to become embedded at the end of the first round.
It may seem like a trivial deal, but nothing is ever trivial in the NBA, especially with these Denver Nuggets.
The 2023 champion has just recovered picks 29 and 32 in the Draft tomorrow night, picks that originally belonged to the Indiana Pacers. In exchange, they receive Denver’s 2024 first-round pick, as well as the Nuggets’ 40th pick in this year’s Draft.
We’ll spare you the details about the 2024 pick going to the Pacers (for those who want them, you can check just below), what you need to remember in the story is that Denver will choose three times in the space of ten picks between the end of the first round and the start of the second (29 and 32 therefore, as well as 37).
It will not have taken 24 hours for Denver to hit hard: the defending champions recover picks 29 and 32 from the Pacers, two choices that will allow them to draft and develop new cracks of the future!

When we know the ability of the Nuggets to make steals in the Draft and to develop young players who are selected outside the Lottery (hello Christian Braun), we say to ourselves that Denver is still preparing a good move. The Colorado franchise may even try to move up the pick order a little further by offering more of its picks available this year.
The news of the transfer comes shortly after Bruce Brown decided to become a free agent, he who decided to decline his player option at 6.8 million dollars.
