However, LA PATRIA established that there are five players under suspicion and observation before the National Anti-Doping Organization (ONAD). The footballers are being investigated for a video they uploaded to social networks in which they promoted a product that improves sports performance.
The ONAD (it is the only one authorized to do so) tries to verify if the promoted product contains substances prohibited in sport and if they were consumed by athletes. Verification is done by taking samples.
“Yes, I am in that follow-up. We facilitate the production and publication of the video, nothing more,” said one of the soccer players who is in the follow-up process.
“They come to my house, to training or to the hotel, they take the samples and they leave. As far as I know, everything has been normal,” he stressed.
A doctor who has worked with the National Anti-Doping Agency indicated that “very surely they are generating the biological passport, which consists of taking periodic samples to define the ranges of each one and thus establish, beyond the result of the product, whether or not there was something wrong”.
LA PATRIA consulted Fernando Jaramillo, president of Dimayor, and said he was in a meeting. The Colombian Football Federation was also investigated and there was no response.
The ONAD makes the controls and the samples are analyzed in the Salt Lake City (UTAH-United States) laboratory.
