Deputy Rivas proclaims himself the “Chilean Bukele”: I will be “commissioner against disgusting scourges” | National

Deputy Gaspar Rivas announced a project to toughen precautionary measures for detainees. On the occasion he proclaimed himself “the Chilean Bukele”. “Even if I have to give my life, and I’m serious, with a shot to the back of the head, I’m going to fight those disgusting scourges,” he said.

The deputy Gaspar Rivas, announced the presentation of a bill to toughen the precautionary measures those accused of violent crimes.

As he pointed out, the objective is to put “a definitive lock on the revolving door” that -in his opinion- exists in the Guarantee Courts.

The foregoing, with respect to crimes of high connotation such as rape, femicide, homicide, robbery with violence or force, for instance.

Likewise, it proposed that once the accused is placed at the disposal of the guarantee judge, his preventive detention be ordered immediately, excluding other precautionary measures.

“The idea is that if there is sufficient evidence to prove their participation, the detainee cannot access the benefits of the Prison Benefits Law,” added Rivas.

In this sense, he strongly questioned an initiative presented in May of last year by the senators Juan Ignacio Latorre and Francisco Huenchumilla.

“They presented a project establishing that mass incarceration is unjust, inhuman and classist and that Chile should promote mass release,” added the PDG parliamentarian.

“Here is the Chilean Bukele, the commissioner against the disgusting scourges that flood our young people with drugs, whom the left has the self-confidence to defend,” he exclaimed.

“Their only right is to rot in jail,” Rivas said.

“Even if I have to give my life, and I mean it, with a shot to the neck, I’m going to fight those disgusting scourges,” he said.

Asked about the performance he did before the press and if his self-proclamation will mean that he will go to the towns, Rivas clarified that “he will fight from Congress.”

Finally, annoyed by the incisive questions of the journalists, the deputy defended his announcement, ruling out that it was a performance by a “Tony Caluga”.
