Sharjah: An expatriate injured in a bicycle accident in the desert was rescued by helicopter. The accident happened in the desert of Sharjah the other day. The helicopter of the National Search and Rescue Center reached the seriously injured Asian man and shifted him to the hospital.

The rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with the Sharjah Police authorities in the Naswa region. In the preliminary examination, it was found that the spine was injured in the accident. Other parts of the body are also injured. In this situation, it was decided to transfer him to the hospital by helicopter. He was taken to Al Saeed Hospital for treatment. Last year, the authorities also rescued a Frenchman who had an accident in the same area by helicopter.

The National Search and Rescue Center had earlier released the things that should be followed by those going to the desert. It was also advised to bring enough food, water and a portable stove if staying for a longer period of time.

Authorities also advise drivers to use a GPS device or smartphone app with offline maps, carry extra fuel, travel in groups and stay in touch, make sure your vehicle is in good condition before leaving, and keep spare tires and tire changing equipment.
