Despite the Continuing Rise, Dr. Aubin Sees Encouraging Signs | Coronavirus

When the sixth wave began in the region, the number of active cases among groups that have access to PCR tests had doubled in just five days, from 500 to 1,000.

Since then, it has increased, but more slowly with about 300 more active cases, but in seven days.

Currently, we are seeing an ascent which has slowed down, the curve is changing, not quite stabilized yet, but we can predict in the coming days an ascent which will be quite weak, particularly in terms of hospitalizations. We also notice it in terms of human resources, there is still pressure, there are a lot of people gone, we see that what we were experiencing in terms of ascension, there too it changeshe analyzed in an interview with Telejournal Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

It should however be noted that the number of new cases on Wednesday160, is very close to the highest number reached in the current increase, which was 166 new cases on 1is avril.

As for hospitalizations, they fell by two on Wednesday, from 65 to 63. However, the increase had been significant the day before with a jump of ten.

On Wednesday, 333 employees were absent in the regional health network.

It should be recalled that the data published by the National Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) consider that people hospitalized in connection with COVID-19 include those who were hospitalized with COVID-19 as their main diagnosis or for another reason and who also had COVID-19.

The data also calculates people who caught COVID-19 in the hospital, while they were there for another reason.

Doctor Aubin hopes that once it’s Easter break that the peak will have been reached, which would reduce fears of increased spread during the family gatherings that are expected to occur.

« We hope to be in a descent during this period. When you’re downhill, it’s much more reassuring. So, let’s wait a few more days to see if it really stabilizes. »

A quote from Dr Donald Aubin

Fewer absent employees

The region is at load shedding level 2. During the fifth wave, level 3 had been reached, which meant a very large decrease in the number of surgeries performed in the hospitals of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. The region had spent only a week at level 1 between the two waves.

On Wednesday, 333 employees of the health network were absent, compared to 385 the day before, said Pierre-Alexandre Maltais, interim senior communications advisor at the Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (CIUSSS) of Saguenay-Lac- Saint Jean. The maximum reached exceeded 500 absences during the current wave.

We still manage to maintain the services. We have a truly day-to-day approach. We are looking at our capacity day by day, but so far with this approach, we have managed to maintain the previous services, the services we had beforecontinued Donald Aubin.

As for vaccination, the resources are always there to meet the needs. Appointments for the second booster dose have been available on the Clic Santé platform since Wednesday morning for people aged 70 and over. They will be for those 60 and over next Monday.
