Al-Riyadia newspaper revealed that the management of the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, headed by Musali Al-Muammar, bought the remainder of Abdul Rahman Gharib’s contract, from his Al-Ahly counterpart, for an amount of 22 million Saudi riyals.

The newspaper said that Al-Nasr will pay the player an annual salary of up to 7.5 million riyals, in addition to an increase of half a million riyals over what he was receiving under his contract with Al-Ahly.

Yesterday, Saturday, Al-Nasr Club announced its contract with Abdul Rahman Gharib, on a 4-year contract, after he refused to continue with Al-Ahly after his relegation to the First Division last season.

Gharib had previously informed the Al-Ahly administration of his desire to leave the club after his relegation to the “Yellow” league, as he did not want to lose his chance to participate in the Saudi national team, in the 2022 World Cup.

Abdul Rahman Gharib has been playing in the ranks of Al-Ahly since 2017, and the player scored the goal of qualifying against the Uzbek club Pakhtakor for the 2018/2019 AFC Champions League.

The 25-year-old Al-Ahly player renewed his contract with Al-Ahly last January for a period of 3 years until 2025, as he participated in 117 matches with the first team since his promotion in 2018, scored 17 goals and made 14 assists.

The Al-Nasr administration, headed by Musali Al Muammar, is seeking to make new deals during the new season, as he suffered a significant decline in the results of the last season, as he bid farewell to the competition in all competitions, and also ranked third in the professional league table.

During the current summer transfers, Al-Nasr signed French coach Rudi Garcia, Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo, Ivorian defender Gislan Konan, and Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina.

Al-Nassr is scheduled to start its campaign in the new season of the Saudi League 2022/2023 against Al-Wahda on the 27th of August.

“We signed with Gharib because he needed our team first, and then because he inevitably left our brother Al-Ahly club,” said Musli Al Muammar, head of Al Nasr, after signing with the player.

He added, “Al-Nasr gives Al-Ahly priority in the transfer of any player, and if we saw there was hope for a stranger to stay in his club, we would not ask for his transfer, in support of this ancient club.”
