Detector: Yes, Colombia did appear on the cover of the New York Times

For days a Facebook has been circulating image in which an article from the American newspaper New York Times appears titled: “In a pandemic, for the poor in Colombia, hope is over.”

We decided to pass the Lie Detector to him because the image has been shared more than 15 thousand times on Facebook and several users rated it as false.

However, it is true.

This is the image that is circulating:

We search and indeed the image is a part of the cover of the print version of the New York Times Sunday, July 12.

Both the photo and the article referring to Colombia are part of a reportage entitled “The pandemic threatens to widen inequality in Latin America”, in which two reporters (Julie Turkewitz and Sofía Villamil) and a photographer (Federico Ríos) give an account of the situation that hundreds of Colombians and Venezuelan migrants are going through due to the covid-19 pandemic.

For this, we rate the image as true.
