Detroit City FC Signs Forward Kian Williams on Loan from Indy Eleven

Detroit City Football Club has officially acquired forward Kian Williams on loan from Indy Eleven for the remainder of the 2026 USL Championship season, bolstering its attacking options as the club pushes deeper into the campaign. The deal is currently pending league and federation approval, according to an announcement from Detroit City FC.

Upon joining Le Rouge, the forward will wear squad number 23, adding immediate versatility and professional experience to the club’s front line.

As a product of the Leicester City youth system, Williams developed through the club’s academy from the U10 level up to the U23 squad. During his early career in England, he also gained valuable senior experience out on loan with Southern Football League Premier Division Central sides Barwell and Stratford Town.

Global Experience and Career Path

Before making his move to the United States, Williams built an extensive professional resume across Iceland and Canada. His international journey included a stint in Iceland playing for Keflavík ÍF from 2020 through 2022. During that period, he helped the club secure promotion from Iceland’s second tier into the top-flight Úrvalsdeild, contributing 13 goals and seven assists across 64 total appearances in all competitions. He initially began his senior career in 2019 with Magni Grenivík, where he netted five goals in 14 second-division matches.

Williams later transitioned to the Canadian Premier League with Valour FC. During his 2023 campaign with the club, he tied for the team lead by recording four goals and five assists across 23 appearances, starting 22 matches and eventually shifting into a central striker role. That year, he created 18 chances, registered 47 shots—17 of which were on target—and contributed defensively with 74 recoveries, 68 duels won, and nine interceptions.

He returned to Valour FC for the 2025 campaign, making 11 appearances with eight starts and scoring in back-up-to-back midseason fixtures, including a goal against HFX Wanderers on his 25th birthday. His statistical totals that season included 14 shots, 14 fouls won, 12 tackles won, 29 duels won, three interceptions, and two chances created.

What Comes Next for Le Rouge

With his transfer paperwork pending final league and federation authorization, Williams prepares to integrate into a Detroit City FC squad looking to maximize its offensive depth. The club will look to leverage his international background and tactical flexibility as the 2026 USL Championship season progresses toward its decisive stretch.
