Celebrating his 1000th career game in the National Hockey League, David Perron scored in a 3-2 losing cause for the Detroit Red Wings against the Stars in Dallas.

A native of Sherbrooke, Perron became the 51st player born in Quebec to reach this milestone, and he is only the fourth active player to do so, after Patrice Bergeron, Marc-Édouard Vlasic and Paul Stastny.

With this goal, Perron also made history in another way. He is now one of a select group of six active players to have scored in their 1,000th game. Brent Burns, Evgeni Malkin, Josh Bailey, Jeff Carter and Bergeron are the others.

The 34-year-old veteran’s most recent goal, scored by redirecting a Ben Chiarot shot past goaltender Jake Oettinger, tied the game late in the second period. Unfortunately for Perron, Nils Lundkvist ruined the party in overtime to give the Stars the win.

Dylan Larkin was the other Wings scorer, while Denis Gurianov and Jamie Benn replied for the home side.
