Libya declared three days of mourning, after tens of hundreds were killed due to Hurricane Daniel, which struck areas and cities in northern and eastern Libya. Torrents and floods in the city of Derna swept thousands of homes and their residents into the sea, and destroyed its roads, changing the features of the city.

The Libyan authorities declared a state of emergency and closed schools, 4 major oil stations, and public and governmental institutions.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the Egyptian government to take all necessary measures to provide support and assistance to the brothers in Libya and Morocco.

Storm Daniel arrived in the Matrouh and Alexandria governorates in Egypt on Monday morning, coming from the state of Libya, after the latter declared several areas as “disaster areas” due to the effects left by the storm.
Storm Daniel caused a sharp decline in visibility in the areas it struck in Alexandria and Matrouh governorates, due to dust-laden winds, accompanied by weather fluctuations.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expected that horizontal visibility would continue to decrease over the north of the country until northern Upper Egypt, passing through Greater Cairo, as a result of the country being affected by the remnants of Storm Daniel.
