Developers hoped Redfall would be canceled

The downfall of Redfall will be remembered as one of the biggest flops of that year, but that might not have been the case had some changes been made when Xbox acquired ZeniMax.

According to a newRedfall-misfire-for-xbox-pand-after-7-5-billion-microsoft-deal » target=”_blank”>Bloomberg reportthe team working on Redfall saw a chance with the acquisition to flip the game. Apparently, there was hope that Xbox would order the game to be canceled or restarted as a solo project.

However, Xbox opted out of developing the game, which allowed ZeniMax to continue operating as before. With direction issues and the departure of 70% of Prey’s team from Arkane, Redfall didn’t really stand a chance, despite having a somewhat promising concept.
