Development kits for Nintendo’s next console arrive at developers

For the past few months, rumors have been rife as to the console that will succeed the Switch. But now everything seems to be accelerating…

This is a statement made by the VGC US site : Nintendo’s first partner studios have already received development kits for the Japanese manufacturer’s next console, with a release in sight for the second half of 2024.

It must be said that the Switch, the third best-selling console of all time (after the PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo DS), is starting to get old with its seven years. A venerable lifespan for a console between two generations (the fault of the failure of the Wii U which had forced Nintendo to accelerate the development of a new model).

With this new console, which should also be a hybrid model, Nintendo is therefore entering the ninth generation, apparently wanting to avoid the pitfall of the launch of the Xbox Series X | S and the PS5, which had suffered shortages.

Little information is already available on the model, which is unknown if it will be backwards compatible. However, we can expect solid performance for a console that arrives after the Steam Deck or the ASUS Rog Ally…
