Dhanush tops India by capturing; South Indian stars in the top ten

Dhanush topped the list of India’s most popular movie stars in 2022. Dhanush has topped the list released by IMDB.

2022 was the year when Dhanush made his Hollywood debut with the movie The Gray Man and gained a lot of attention globally. Along with this, Dhanush also filled the Tamil market with the huge hit Tiruchithirambalam.

Dhanush has won the first position beating Alia Bhatt and Aishwarya Rai to the second and third positions.

This year’s list also has the distinction that six of the top ten positions are South Indian players. Ram Charan, Samantha, Junior NTR, Allu Arjun and Yash are among the top ten.

After Aishwarya Rai, Ram Charan and Samantha have reached the fourth and fifth positions. Hrithik Roshan is the first actor in this list from Bollywood who is at number six. Kiara Advani is at the seventh position. Junior NTR is at the eighth position and Allu Arjun and Yash are at the last positions.

The popularity of South Indian films in Indian cinema in recent years is also reflected in the IMDb list. While various films like Kantara and KGF created waves at the box office, many other films gained a large audience through OTT.

Dubbed South Indian films have even played a major role in bringing people back to Bollywood theaters, which had suffered successive failures. The specialty of 2022 was that the audience, industries and critics quickly changed their minds from where they used to say that Indian cinema means Bollywood.
