Kattappana: SFI, including Dheeraj, has been arrested. According to the police remand report, the Youth Congress activists came to the college with the intention of killing the activists. The accused first stabbed Abhijit. According to the remand report filed by the police in the Kattappana First Class Magistrate’s Court, Dheeraj was stabbed while trying to stop it.
Local Congress leaders Nikhil Paili and Jerin Jojo have been arrested in connection with the Idukki Dheeraj murder case. Both were produced in Kattappana court on Wednesday. Both the accused were remanded till January 25.
Meanwhile, the main accused Nikhil Paili told the court that he was fleeing when several people came to attack him. The second defendant, Jerin Joza, also pleaded not guilty in court. He did not know what the stabbing was. Jerin said he learned of the incident when the assailant was being taken away in a vehicle.
When the accused were brought to appear, there was a strong protest outside the court. Many people had gathered outside the court on hearing that the accused were being brought. As police vehicles came, they struck and protested. The police were controlling them.
