CASES of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) in Ciamis Regency have caused 355 people to receive hospital treatment and 3 of them died.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division at the Ciamis Regency Health Service (Dinkes), Edis Herdis, said that the increase in dengue fever cases in his area occurred with the arrival of the rainy season.

“DHF cases have increased quite significantly. We have taken various steps and outreach to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito attack,” he said, Sunday (24/3).

He said that the attack of dengue cases occurred because the season changed from hot to rainy. This condition causes an increase in mosquito larvae found at various points, such as clothes hangers, dispensers and bathtubs.

“We urge the public to always make efforts to drain, cover and bury (3M), eradicate mosquito nests (PSN), and maintain a healthy and clean lifestyle (PHBS),” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tasikmalaya City Health Service, Uus Supangat, said that there were 260 cases of dengue fever in January, February and March.

“The potential for an increase in dengue fever cases will still occur because the rain is still falling,” he said.
