Former F1 drivers Joni Herbert and Paul di Resta have been dropped from Sky Sports F1’s broadcast team, The Mirror reports.

Three-time Grand Prix winner Joni Herbert posted a picture of the SkynSports F1 team on social media on Wednesday night, saying he will “miss this team”, suggesting he won’t be returning to screens in 2023.

“Johnny has been an integral part of the F1 team since his first season with Sky Sports in 2012,” a company spokesperson told The Mirror.

“We will miss his humor and great personality, and thank him for his energy and enthusiasm over the last 11 years. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Reports say the station has confirmed that Paul di Resta has also been dropped from the line-up.

Paul di Resta’s last full-time F1 season was with Force India in 2013, and his last race appearance was at the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix as a substitute for Williams.

Both Johnny Herbert and Paul Di Resta were occasionally providing insight from the commentary box or providing analysis during the pre- and post-race shows.

The Mirror wrote that they will not be replaced in the 2023 season.

Sky Sports currently holds exclusive rights to broadcast F1 in the UK and Ireland until at least the end of the 2029 season.
