Did omicron evolve in a mammal?

Not only the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus itself comes from animals. Some of its variants might also have developed undetected in an animal reservoir for a long time, from which it was then transmitted back to humans. It is possible that this is where the origin of omicron lies, which differs greatly from the variants previously detected in humans. At least this is one of the hypotheses currently being discussed among experts, for which there is increasing evidence.
