It was at the microphone of Paul Arcand, at 98.5, that we were made aware of this good deed that Gildor Roy had posed for a fervent admirer of the daily newspaper. This is Éric Charest, 45 years old, who lives with an intellectual disability. His father, Gilles, was in interview with Paul Arcand to tell the great passion that his son had for the series, but more precisely for the character of Commander Chiasson.

Living near the studios where is filmed District 31, Éric saw Gildor Roy outside the set and begged his father to stop and shout at him. The actor then came to talk for about fifteen minutes with Eric.

“Eric told him that he was listening to the series. They swapped. Éric explained to him that he made glue-on cars and that he would make him a glue-on police car, and that he would come and bring it to him. Gildor congratulated him and thanked him, while inviting him to come back to see him to bring him the police car,” he explained.

A month later, Eric came back to offer his gift to Gildor, who took good care of putting it on the shelf in the commander’s office. When we listen to the show, we can also see it very well. It blends in perfectly with the decor!

But that’s not all! Last week, Eric visited the scene again, and Gildor made it possible for him to realize the dream of all fans of District 31, that is to say to be able to enter and visit the studios! As they were filming scenes, he offered to hold her in silence and watch the filming, before leading her straight into the commander’s office and handing her a famous district mug.

“Eric was really, really happy. I tell you that it is THE subject of conversion. […] It’s not funny, his mug! He called everyone. He told that to his sisters, to his uncles… All the evening, he talked about it again. Frankly, he was really happy!” mentioned Mr. Charest, visibly happy for his son.

What Mr. Charest did not know was that Gildor Roy was on the phone to comment on this beautiful story. After receiving Paul Arcand’s congratulations for his nice gesture, Gildor quickly explained that he did it out of kindness, and certainly didn’t expect to be interviewed about it.

“It is exceptional what we experienced with District, so it’s the least you can do to give back a little to the world that loves it. But here, I just want to make it clear: there is no more cup! Don’t call me, and don’t come to the edge of the fence to get one,” he joked.

The interview ended in a very nice way with Gilles Charest who, his voice shaken by emotion, insisted on underlining “the big heart and the great generosity of Gildor”.

A beautiful story, these days, it feels good!
