The head of the German Defense Ministry, Christine Lambrecht, has been delaying the process of supplying weapons to Ukraine for several weeks. This is reported by the German newspaper The world citing their sources.
The publication notes that the defense industry has promised to close the gaps of the armed forces of Germany in the event of the supply of weapons to Kiev. So, at the end of February, the Rheinmetall concern provided the department with a list of products worth half a billion euros, which it was ready to transfer to Ukraine or the Bundeswehr if it sends weapons from its stocks to Kiev.
A month later, the manufacturer received a response to his proposal. According to newspaper sources, the list includes tanks, air defense systems, guns, armored cars, medical equipment and a whole field hospital.
The article notes that Germany has not yet provided Ukraine with new weapons, except for anti-tank missiles bought by Kiev from Dynamit Nobel Defense in the amount of 5 thousand pieces.
The publication reports that now the Ministry of Defense is overestimating their actions and decisions. The agency intends to strengthen support for Ukraine and provide it with new military equipment.
Germany first approved arms supplies to Ukraine on February 26. Then it was decided to supply Kiev with a thousand units of anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles.
