Diego Brancatelli: “I set up a supermarket to give people work and things are going badly for us”

If a virtue is to be recognized Diego Brancatelli, that is his fidelity to his political position. Whether they disagree or not, it is something that his colleagues have always pointed out to him. And, on the occasion of the upcoming end of intractable – the classic panel program in America that celebrated 10 years on the air- this Monday he was interviewed in LAMwhere he surprised with some revelations.

“Macri took over a very comfortable country, it was a very good country for the vast majority, perhaps for those who most have not. Those who have the most suffered, but the rest did not. Macri failed and on top of that we come from two years of pandemic, you think that when there was an announcement of a strike for 24 hours it was said ´today Argentina lost 8 billion pesos´, imagine a strike for six months. Well or poorly managed, that in a country is devastating”, he began justifying the country’s economic crisis. Although he admitted: “After that the war (alluding to the Russian invasion in Ukraine) and the lack of will to do things right in economic matters.”

In this sense, he said that in the midst of this situation, he decided to open a supermarket with his father-in-law. “I put it in the middle of the pandemic to give people work and it goes badly for us. We want to do better. It’s still open but today we’re really changing money or we’re holding trade to give people work. Because now with all that I work, I do not need to do so much bad blood, what remains at the end of the month is not even worth it, “he revealed. And he detailed: “I have five employees, before I had ten.”

Meanwhile, he also explained the reasons why the business does not work. “There are a lot of things… at our specific level, we are in an area (Caseros) where perhaps we made a mistake in the area, we have two supermarkets around the corner that are from the big chains, they have other benefits of promotions, the prices and the volumes they buy are different. The location is not the best either because we have a ladder because you have to go down it with weight, it is a mezzanine. There are a lot of factors.”

On the other hand, he also gave his vision on the political panorama for the next presidential elections. “Peronism is very complicated if it continues like this. Alberto Fernández I believe that he is not going to re-elect. I would like it to be Cristina because she is the only one who can get us out of this, and then there are very good candidates. I wouldn’t mind Sergio Massa, Ricardo Quintela, who is the governor of La Rioja, Capitanich. There are good governors who could be presidents,” he noted. And he reflected: “I feel that if the ruling party starts to think about the future of the people, and if they stop fighting and end up uniting… but if not, the darkest thing comes, the macrismo, Together for Change, Patricia Bullrich or even a Milei”.

As for the opposition figures, he stated: “For me, Milei is being inflated, it’s all a matter of marketing. But the ones who have to worry about that are the opposition, because they get votes from Cambiemos, nobody from Peronism or Kirchnerism is going to vote for Milei. There they have to argue among themselves. The best or the one with whom I feel most identified is with Larreta. He is the great candidate to compete”.
