The new technical director of Boca, Diego Martinez, was confirmed this Friday by the institution and starting in 2024 he will be in charge of one of the most important teams in the country. The native of Cañuelas had an unknown past in the club and years later, when he managed to promote Tigre to the highest category of Argentine football in 2021, he was baptized by Sergio Massa as “Gigoló” due to his physical resemblance to a media person.

However, Martínez’s career began earlier, when he worked as a youth trainer at the Xeneize club.
His story seems scripted since, after his retirement from professional football in 2011 (whose career developed entirely in promotion), he reached Boca Juniors in 2012 with the help of former youth coach, Jorge ‘Coqui’ Raffo.
