Restyled crossover Skoda Kodiaq debuted in Russia at the beginning of September last year, but due to the shortage of components, the shipment of cars to dealers began only in December. There are still very few Kodiaks, the waiting period for some versions exceeds one year, and SUVs in the basic Active configuration are not available for order at all.

Skoda Kodiaq for Russia

But before the New Year, the diesel Kodiaq returned to the Russian range. Cars with a 2.0 TDI engine (150 hp), a DSG robot and all-wheel drive can be ordered, but they will not appear at dealers until spring. Prices – from 2 million 567 thousand rubles for the Ambition version, that is, 25 thousand more than a 180-horsepower gasoline crossover.

Meanwhile, the updated Skoda Kodiaq debuted in China, and this is a slightly different car: the scale of changes in the local crossover is greater than that of the European or Russian model. For example, from the outside, the Chinese Kodiaq looks like the European RS version: their bumpers are almost the same, but in China they are decorated with chrome instead of European-style black inserts. At the stern there are large false pipes of the exhaust system, but the Chinese version did not get the RS-spoiler. But the main thing is that a different interior has been prepared for the local crossover.

For cars for Europe and Russia, the interior after restyling almost did not change (except that the contour lighting was expanded), but the Chinese Kodiaq got hold of the original front panel “almost like Octavia”. It looks less heavy, the widescreen media system screen is installed separately, the central ventilation deflectors are made horizontal. The climate control sensor unit appeared in the Chinese Kodiak last year.

Skoda Kodiaq GT

The same salon went to the Chinese exclusive – crossover Skoda Kodiaq GT with a coupe body. It appeared in 2018, has a lowered roof and a different rear end, but is not exported. At the same time, the appearance of the GT model has not changed much: restyling has not touched the front end, and only the bumper has been changed at the stern, which now has a V-shaped insert and other exhaust pipes.

As before, Kodiaks are offered in China only with a two-liter turbo engine and a seven-speed DSG “robot”. For front-wheel drive versions, the engine is tuned for 186 hp, for all-wheel drive versions – for 220 hp. Now prices start at $28,000, and updated cars will start selling here in the spring.
