It’s about Müller and Flick |
Hamann raises World Cup alarm: “Don’t think that…”
He has played 59 international matches for Germany, took part in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup, 2000 and 2004 European Championships: Dietmar Hamann (49).
However, the “Sky” expert is currently having doubts about our DFB team’s chances of winning the title at the World Cup in Qatar (November 20th to December 18th).
Hamann in the “Kicker”: “I have great concerns with regard to the World Cup. I don’t know if our players are good enough to have a chance of winning the title.”
For Bayern professional Thomas Müller (33), Hamann is missing an adequate teammate: “Müller got along well with a partner like Klose or Lewandowski, who he now lacks at the DFB. He is not coordinated with Havertz, and Werner has not yet demonstrated the required level on the big stage.
According to Hamann, the fact that national coach Hansi Flick (57) was able to win the first eight international matches under his leadership has been “overrated”. He diagnoses an unhealthy imbalance in the DFB-Elf: “Currently I don’t have the impression that there is a solid team on the pitch. The leader is missing, the weakening Bayern cannot take on this role at the moment. And I don’t think there is a hierarchy.”
This is a sharp criticism 52 days before the start of the World Cup. However, the Nations League appearances against Hungary (0-1) and in England (3-3) were indeed a cause for concern. In the game on the island, the defensive botch around the back four Kehrer, Süle, Schlotterbeck and Raum was particularly obvious. This was the only way the English could go from a 0:2 deficit to 3:2 within eleven minutes. The fast dribbles of the “Three Lions” were poison for the German defense team.
Germany will play in group E of the World Cup against Japan (November 23, 2 p.m.), Spain (November 27, 8 p.m.) and Costa Rica (December 1, 8 p.m.). In a possible round of 16 (December 5 or 6), Belgium or Croatia from Group F could be opponents of the Flick-Elf.
